President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday paid floral tributes to former President R.Venkataraman on his 104th birth anniversary, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
he officers and staff, along with the President, also paid floral tributes in front of a portrait of R. Venkataraman.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister also remembered the late Minister.
Born in Tamil Nadu and lawyer by profession, R.Venkataraman served as the eighth President of India from 1987 to 1992.
Venkataraman was also appointed a Member of the Union Planning Commission in 1967. He held that office until 1971.
In 1977, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Madras (South) Constituency where he served as an Opposition Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.
