Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Headquarters of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) here on Monday. This was a familiarization visit to the Force, which is primarily deployed for guarding the Indo China Border.
Singh was given a detailed presentation on operations, border management, internal security, personnel and administration of the force, as well as being appraised about working of the ITBP in different parts of the country. He was also informed of the various problems being faced by the ITBP at border areas.
Singh lauded the contribution of the ITBP in all border and internal security duties and said that the Home Ministry is in the process to sort out all the issues of functional requirement of the force.
Formed in 1962, the ITBP looks at the security along India's border with the Tibet region of China, a border covering 2115 kilometres.
