Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Saturday said that Supreme Court's Ayodhya verdict should be respected and the work ahead must be done in an amicable atmosphere.

"Under the secular constitution of the most respected Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Supreme Court verdict in relation to the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute today should be respected and all work ahead should be done in an amicable atmosphere," tweeted Mayawati in Hindi.

The Supreme Court on Saturday directed the Centre to give five acres of suitable land to Sunni Waqf Board and at the same time make necessary arrangements for the construction of the temple at the site by forming a trust.
