Holding placards bearing messages against drug abuse, hundreds of school children, along with members of judiciary, police and administration, took out a rally against the menace on Friday.
Talking about drug abuse in Punjab, Justice Gurbir Singh, district and sessions judge, said sensitising people about drug abuse is one of the methods to keep them away from this menace.
"This may be a small effort; but like every drop of water fills a pot, such efforts would certainly help create a drug-free society," he added.
Appreciating the awareness programme, Dr. P.D. Garg said, "Indeed, Punjab is worst affected by drug abuse, but besides rehabilitating abusers, efforts should be made to change their mindset." He
President of the District Bar Association Pardeep Saini said the rally was organised by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).

Lakhbir Singh said, "Drug menace has gripped the state badly and it is high time that people come forward to save society and state from its clutches."
Some of the participants opined that police should break the nexus between smugglers and politicians to stop drug smuggling from Pakistan.
While appreciating the effort, Police Commissioner A.S. Chahal said, "Police have not only been nabbing drug paddlers, are also working on a comprehensive plan to offer assistance in rehabilitation of drug abusers.
