Sofia Coppola no longer helming 'The Little Mermaid' live-action

Sofia Coppola has exited Universal's live-action movie on 'The Little Mermaid.'

The 44-year-old screenwriter, who was attached to direct the fairy tale, dropped out of the project due to alleged "creative differences," Deadline.com has reported.

The studio along with Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner is pressing ahead, with a Caroline Thompson rewrite on the story.
