South African pace spearhead Dale Steyn brushed aside criticism surrounding his T20 performances, insisting that his overall statistics would reveal that he has done fairly well in the shortest format of the game.
Considered as one of the most feared pacemen in Test cricket, Steyn has been ineffective in the 20-overs format in recent times and even dropped for two matches in the recently-concluded World Twenty20 in India.
The 32-year-old pointed out that he has often maintained an economy of under seven throughout his career, insisting that these figures are pretty reasonable in the batsman-dominated game, Sport24 reported.
He also urged his critics not to judge bowlers on the basis of past criteria, adding that the game has evolved past erstwhile ideas of economy rates.
