Stoke City defeated defending champions Manchester City to register their first Premier League victory, thanks to striker Mame Biram Diouf's fine solo effort.
Senegal international and former United striker Diouf raced 70 yards before slotting under Joe Hart to guide Stoke to their first Premier League win. The hosts could have had a late penalty but City's midfielder Yaya Toure was booked for diving.
Stoke had lost all 12 previous league matches at the Etihad Stadium and Old Trafford and manager Mark Hughes will savour this victory at his former club. The visitors won depite the odds being stacked against them as they had not even scored at City in the Premier League, The BBC reported.
By contrast, Manuel Pellegrini's men had failed to hit the net in just one of their last 70 home matches and the Chilean started with Sergio Aguero, who had taken just 23 seconds to score off the bench against Liverpool, up front.
City manager Pellegrini said that it is a surprising defeat because they did not expect to lose against Stoke but these games sometimes happen. He added that they tried from everywhere and really they were not very creative.

Pellegrini said that they did not find the space and that is credit to Stoke, and added that he is worried about the goal the visitors scored because it was too easy.
Stoke manager Mark Hughes said that they have done well in games against City since he has been at the club, and added that his squad has played them three times home and away and they have only scored once.
Hughes said that they know they can frustrate City and make it difficult for them.
