Asian Football Confederation general secretary Alex Soosay has announced his resignation on Wednesday after he was suspended last month over cover-up claims during an investigation into the organization in 2012.
According to reports, Soosay was suspended after being accused of asking an AFC official to hide documents during a probe into the organisation's practices under former president Mohammed bin Hammam three years ago.
The AFC said in a statement that the organisation would like to thank Soosay for his commitment to Asian football during his extensive 20-year-long career and wishes him all the best for his future career.
Soosay's deputy Windsor John would take charge of the position until the appointment of a new general secretary.
