'The Martian' tops global box office turnover with USD 100 million earning

Ridley Scott's highly-anticipated film 'The Martian' is doing pretty well at the box office and has grossed 100 million dollars worldwide and 55 million dollars overseas.

The film, starring Matt Damon as an astronaut stranded on Mars, has nearly surpassed another space-based adventure, 'Gravity,' as the highest-grossing October debut in history, Deadline.com reports.

The upcoming venture also stars Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels and has hit the UK theaters on October 2, 2015.
