Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Monday said that it is too early to reach at any decision in the death case of Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of former union minister and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, as the investigation is in its primary stage.

"We have started the investigation in this case a few days back. The investigation is in its primary stage and we can't come to a decision so early. I will try to give you an update on this in two to three days. We are trying our best to reach to a logical conclusion at the earliest. All the investigation is being carried out by the SIT. If SIT finds something relevant that will not be ignored," Bassi said.

"I assure you that after the investigation is over, all the doubts will be cleared," he added.

Bassi also rubbished the allegations of botched-up investigation in the case.

"These allegations are baseless. The time the e-mail came, I had a word with the investigating officer. No such thing was found. So, I would like to make it clear here that the allegations made were completely baseless," Bassi said.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy has challenged the Delhi Police to successfully solve the Sunanda death case.

Swamy had earlier alleged that Tharoor knew about his wife's killer, adding that the Congress leader has been trying to cover up the case.

Sunanda, who married Tharoor in 2010, was found dead a year ago at a five-star hotel in the national capital. She had checked into The Leela Hotel in Chanakyapuri a day before her death on January 17, 2014.

Tharoor's aides said the couple had checked into the luxury hotel because of renovation work at his Delhi bungalow.

Prior to her death, Sunanda was embroiled in a spat with Pakistan-based journalist, Mehr Tarar, whom she accused of stalking her husband.
