Two suspected Islamic State militants shot dead in encounter in Karachi

Two suspected Islamic State militants were eliminated in an encounter with security forces here on Monday.

The encounter is reported to have taken place in Karachi's Shah Latif Town, and police said that both militants were allegedly involved in the targeted killing of more than a dozen people, including a deputy superintendent of police.

According to the Dawn, the encounter took place at around 2 p m local time. Security forces said that they had acted on information and targeted a house in Sector 21-B of Shah Latif Town.

On surrounding their hideout, the militants opened fire on security detail and in the exchange of gunfire, lost their lives.

 

One of the deceased was identified as Abu Huzaifa, while the name of the second militant was not known.

Monday's encounter killing is reported to have come a month after the killing of a dozen militant Islamic State group fighters in the Mastung area of Balochistan.
