The first two hours of polling in Varanasi saw 20 percent of the electorate come out and vote.

In 2009 Lok Sabha polls, the seat saw a mere 43 percent voter turnout.

Varanasi is the most talked about seat in general elections as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is pitted against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal and Ajay Rai of Congress.

On the last day of campaign on Saturday, leaders of all major political parties left no stone unturned to woo the voters in favour of their party candidates. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, AAP chief Kejriwal and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav held impressive road shows in Varanasi.
