YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday asked the people of Andhra Pradesh to give his party 30 Lok Sabha seats in the 2014 general polls to stop the state's bifurcation.

Reddy, who addressed his first public gathering here after being released from jail last month, made a promise that he would support any party that backs a united Andhra Pradesh.

"This is a fight between Delhi's arrogance and Telugu people's self-respect. Let us win 30 Lok Sabha seats. We will then see who will and who can divide Andhra Pradesh. If we win 30 seats, we can make someone who will keep Andhra Pradesh united the Prime Minister," he said.

The YSR Congress chief also used the occasion to criticize UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

"Do you know the history of Andhra Pradesh? You are playing with the future of our children only to make your son the Prime Minister. Is it justified?" he asked.

On October 3, the Union Cabinet had decided to go ahead with the process for the creation of a separate Telangana state carved out from Andhra Pradesh.
