Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday warned that he would take a stand if his son and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his cousin Ram Gopal Yadav chose to form an alliance with any party.

Mulayam told ANI, "I'm not in favour of any alliance; if Akhilesh Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav will form an alliance with any party, then I will have to take a decision".

Earlier, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav lashed out at his uncle and former state cabinet minister Shivpal Yadav for allegedly cozying up to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He charged Shivpal with talking of guarding Mulayam's honour, while at the same time siding with the saffron party.

Mulayam also criticized the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for failing to maintain law and order in the five months that it has been in power.
