All-India House Price Index growth continues to moderate in in Q3 of 2019-20

Annual growth (y-o-y) in all-India HPI moderated further to 3.0% in Q3 of 2019-20
The Reserve Bank of India released its quarterly house price index (HPI) (base: 2010-11=100) for Q3 of 2019-20, based on transaction level data received from housing registration authorities in ten major cities (viz., Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai).The annual growth (y-o-y) in all-India HPI moderated further to 3.0% in Q3 of 2019-20 from 3.3% in the previous quarter and 5.1% a year ago.
Annual HPI growth (y-o-y) varied widely across cities: Bengaluru recorded the highest rise (16.7%) whereas Kochi witnessed the largest contraction [(-)5.8%].
HPI declined for Mumbai, Delhi and Kochi on an annual basis.
On a sequential basis (q-o-q), the all-India HPI increased by 1.2%, with Chennai recording the largest rise (9.3%) and Mumbai and Kolkata recording the largest contraction [(-)3.1% each].
