Australia Market falls 0.18%; financials drag

Australian stock market finished session down on Thursday, 26 April 2018, dragged down by top lenders and mining stocks. The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index dropped 10.8 points, or 0.18%, to 5,910.8 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index shed 6.4 points, or 0.11%, to 6,003 points. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 685 to 557 and 376 ended unchanged. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 5.62% to 12.297. Australian stock market closed on Wednesday, 25 April 2018, for Anzac Day holiday.
