Mainland China stock market finished higher after recouping early losses on Friday, 22 April 2016, on bottom fishing in heavily battered stocks. But gains were limited amid lingering worries that improving economic data will prevent further stimulus and corporate defaults will rise. Most industry sectors were lower, with tech, industrial, and consumer goods stocks being major losers. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 6.35 points, or 0.22%, to 2959.24. The CSI 300 Index, measuring exchanges in Shanghai and Shenzhen, rose 14.30 points, or 0.45%, to 3174.90. The Shanghai Composite Index fell 3.9% for the week, which was its worst weekly percentage drop since late January.
