Consumer goods stocks edge higher
Consumer goods stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Consumer Discretionary Goods & Services index increasing 41.51 points or 1.54% at 2740.17 at 09:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Consumer Discretionary Goods & Services index, EIH Ltd (up 6.27%), Prozone Intu Properties Ltd (up 4.99%),Dish TV India Ltd (up 4.97%),Orient Electric Ltd (up 4.94%),D B Realty Ltd (up 4.88%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Bajaj Auto Ltd (up 4.61%), Network 18 Media & Investments Ltd (up 4.58%), Royal Orchid Hotels Ltd (up 4.55%), Steel Strips Wheels Ltd (up 4.5%), and Eros International Media Ltd (up 4.4%).
On the other hand, Jindal Worldwide Ltd (down 6.79%), Saregama India Ltd (down 4.87%), and KPIT Technologies Ltd (down 3.96%) turned lower.
At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 159.55 or 0.52% at 30978.16.
The Nifty 50 index was up 46.25 points or 0.51% at 9112.8.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 101.28 points or 0.97% at 10573.65.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 43.04 points or 1.16% at 3758.17.
On BSE,962 shares were trading in green, 383 were trading in red and 66 were unchanged.
