Coromadel International leads gainers in 'A' group

McLeod Russel India, Tata Power Company, Pipavav Defence & Offshore Engineering Company and United Breweries are among the other gainers.

Fertiliser maker Coromadel International spurted 7.53% to Rs 247.85. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group.

Tea producer McLeod Russel India jumped 5.93% to Rs 304.50. The stock was second biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Tata Power Company rose 3.84% to Rs 89.20. The stock was third biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Ship builder Pipavav Defence & Offshore Engineering Company rose 3.20% to Rs 43.60 on bargain hunting after the stock fell 7.24% in the preceding three trading sessions to Rs 42.25 on 11 December 2013, from a recent high of Rs 45.55 on 6 December 2013. The stock was fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group.

 

Beer maker United Breweries rose 2.85% to Rs 813.80, extending Wednesday's 1.93% rise triggered by Heineken hiking its stake in the company. The stock was fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Dutch beer maker Heineken International BV, on Tuesday, 10 December 2013, hiked its stake in United Breweries for an estimated Rs 275 crore. According to the information available with the bourses, Heineken International BV acquired a total of 35.58 lakh shares, amounting to 1.35% stake, of United Breweries through open market. The shares were purchased, from Citicorp Finance (India) on an average price of Rs 772.90, valuing the transaction at Rs 275 crore.

As on 30 September 2013, Heineken owned 37.57% stake in United Breweries. Indian promoter Vijay Mallya owned 37.25% stake in United Breweries.
