FPIs step up buying

Net inflow of Rs 844.02 crore on 5 January 2018
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 844.02 crore from the secondary equity markets on 5 January 2018, compared with net inflow of Rs 366.32 crore on 4 January 2018. On 5 January 2018, the Sensex had risen 184.21 points or 0.54% to settle at 34,153.85, its record closing high.
The net inflow of Rs 844.02 crore into the secondary equity markets on 5 January 2018 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5806.37 crore and gross sales of Rs 4962.35 crore.
There was an inflow of Rs 48.32 crore into the 'primary market & others' category on 5 January 2018.
FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 2908.73 crore from the secondary equity markets in January 2018 so far (till 5 January 2018). They had sold stocks worth a net Rs 3345.02 crore into the secondary equity markets in December 2017.
FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 398.12 crore into the primary market & others' category in January 2018 so far (till 5 January 2018). They had sold stocks worth a net Rs 2537.66 crore into the primary market & others' category in December 2017.
