Net purchases of Rs 509.55 crore on 25 May 2016
After three straight days of selling, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) turned buyers into the secondary equity markets on Wednesday, 25 May 2016. FPIs bought stocks worth a net Rs 509.55 crore on 25 May 2016, compared with their outflow of Rs 808.14 crore during the preceding trading session on 24 May 2016. The net inflow of Rs 509.55 crore into the secondary equity markets on 25 May 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3752.57 crore and gross sales of Rs 3243.02 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex jumped 575.70 points or 2.28% to settle at 25,881.17, its highest closing level since 27 April 2016.
FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 197.55 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 25 May 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 8347.69 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 13014.80 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 25 May 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
The net inflow from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 577.43 crore in this month so far (till 25 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 68.04 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' last month. The net inflow from FPIs into category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 671.30 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 25 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
