Hong Kong share market closed lower for third consecutive session on Thursday, 28 August 2014, as profit-takers continued cashing in after the market hit a six-year high at the start of the week and as heightened geopolitical risk after ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Iraq-Syria escalated. The Hang Seng Index fell 0.71% to 24741 at the close. Market turnover stood at HK$80.43 billion, up from HK$67.55 billion on Wednesday.
