Metal stocks rise

Metal stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 82.13 points or 1.32% at 6304.3 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 4.62%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 3.88%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 2.24%),NMDC Ltd (up 2.07%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 1.86%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 1.66%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 1.23%), Vedanta Ltd (up 0.79%), JSW Steel Ltd (up 0.63%), and Coal India Ltd (up 0.23%).

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 169.38 or 0.54% at 30953.51.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 25.9 points or 0.28% at 9116.85.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 14.16 points or 0.13% at 10720.64.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 9.89 points or 0.26% at 3810.01.

On BSE,719 shares were trading in green, 622 were trading in red and 82 were unchanged.
