Metal shares gain

Metal stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 118.16 points or 1.14% at 10522.48 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 3.61%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 2.68%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 2.16%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 1.85%),National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 1.5%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 1.38%), NMDC Ltd (up 1.21%), Vedanta Ltd (up 0.91%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.69%).

On the other hand, Coal India Ltd (down 0.9%), moved lower.

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 118.6 or 0.29% at 41424.62.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 31.2 points or 0.26% at 12213.7.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 56.68 points or 0.41% at 13843.37.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 10.58 points or 0.22% at 4802.44.

On BSE,962 shares were trading in green, 407 were trading in red and 68 were unchanged.
