Metal stocks slide
Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 118.74 points or 1.88% at 6199.07 at 13:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 3.78%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 3.55%),National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 2.68%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 2.5%),JSW Steel Ltd (down 2.44%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were NMDC Ltd (down 2.43%), Tata Steel Ltd (down 2.34%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 2.3%), and Vedanta Ltd (down 1.16%).
On the other hand, Coal India Ltd (up 0.72%), turned up.
At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 309.46 or 1% at 30623.44.
The Nifty 50 index was down 86.05 points or 0.94% at 9020.2.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 38.94 points or 0.37% at 10509.19.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 20.46 points or 0.55% at 3721.59.
On BSE,783 shares were trading in green, 1305 were trading in red and 153 were unchanged.
