Nifty Dec 2019 futures trades at premium

The Nifty December 2019 futures were at 12,247.40, a premium of 22.80 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 12,224.60 in the cash market.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 13.35 lakh crore compared with Rs 9.99 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index gained 56.65 points or 0.47% to 12,221.65, its record closing high. The index hit a record high of 12,237.70 in intraday today.

The NSE's India VIX down 2.03% at 12.2625. A fall in volatility indicates stability in benchmark index.

 

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 26 December 2019 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 21.33 lakh at the 12,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 50.31 lakh contracts was seen at 12,000 strike price. The option chain suggests that the Nifty will trade at 12,000 level in December.

Tata Steel, State Bank of India (SBI) and TCS were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE.

Tata Steel December 2019 futures were at 443.10, compared with spot closing price of 442.50. SBI December 2019 futures were at 328.10 compared with spot closing price of 327.20. TCS December 2019 futures were at 2,164.10, compared with spot closing price of 2,166.80.

The December 2019 F&O contracts expire on Thursday, 26 December 2019.
