Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index declines 1.31%

Nifty Metal index ended down 1.31% at 5278.2 today. The index is down 6.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Tata Steel Ltd shed 3.86%, Vedanta Ltd dropped 3.30% and Jindal Stainless Ltd slipped 1.98%. The Nifty Metal index is up 1.00% over last one year compared to the 5.39% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Pharma index added 1.20% and Nifty Energy index gained 1.20% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 increased 0.74% to close at 16478.1 while the SENSEX recorded a gain of 0.78% to close at 55320.28 today.
