8 militants killed in Afghanistan

At least eight Taliban militants were killed on Thursday as clashes erupted in Afghanitans's Badakhshan province, an official said.

The clashes flared up after the Taliban militants targeted security checkpoints in some villages.

The security forces retaliated, forcing militants to flee, leaving behind eight bodies on the battle ground, Xinhua news agency reported.
