Belgium will not be sending troops to Iraq in a possible incursion against the Islamic State (IS) militants, the government said Monday.
Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders made the comments following a high-level meeting in Paris aimed at deciding what measures should be taken against IS, Xinhua reported.
Participants at the Paris conference on Iraq pledged Monday to tackle the situation by "whatever means necessary", including appropriate military aid.
Reynders said while his country is supporting international efforts, this will not extend to the deployment of ground troops, a local daily reported.
Belgium, the minister said, will provide the international coalition logistical support in the shape of various military aircraft, as it had done previously in the case of Libya.
Some Belgian specialists could also be sent to assist the training of the Iraqi army, he added.
