Canara Bank posts Rs 4,222 cr loss

Canara Bank on Wednesday said it closed last year with a net loss of Rs 4,222.24 crore on a total income of Rs 48,194.94 crore.

In a regulatory filing in BSE, Canara Bank said last fiscal, it had posted a net loss of Rs 4,222.24 crore as against a net profit of Rs 1,121.92 crore posted during FY17.

Last fiscal, it earned a total income of Rs 48,194.94 crore, down from Rs 48,942.04 crore.

During the year under review, the provisions for contingencies including against bad loans stood at Rs 16,109.10 crore up from Rs 7,271.97 crore.
