CBI arrests NDMC officer for bribery

The on Friday arrested a Municipal Council (NDMC) official for demanding and accepting Rs 5,000 bribe from a street vendor allowing him to continue his business, an official said.

The NDMC inspector, identified as Vijay Kumar, was arrested from Connaught Place in central

"The NDMC inspector was demanding a bribe of Rs 8,000 from a street hawker for allowing him to carry on his business in Connaught Place area. We laid a trap and caught the inspector red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant," said Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) spokesperson R.K. Gaur.

Vijay Kumar would be produced before a designated court on Saturday, he added.
