Delhi Police constable hit by car, critical

A 50-year-old Delhi Police constable was critcally injured after a speeding car knocked him down here on early Sunday, police said.

The incident took place near a police check-post in south Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin area around 1.30 a.m.

Jagveer, who is deputed at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station, was on duty when the speeding car hit him, a police officer said, adding that the car also collided with a divider after hitting the constable.

"The car driver managed to drive away from the spot. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the driver," the police officer said.

 

Jagveer was rushed to Jai Praksah Narayan Apex Trauma Centre, where doctors said his condition was critical.

Police said they were scruitinising CCTV footage to find out the registration number of the car.
