The Delhi government on Thursday suspended a senior education department official on the charge of corruption and also registered a police complaint against him, an official statement said.

"On the directions of Education Minister Manish Sisodia, Deputy District Education Officer B.D. Wadhwa has been suspended for involvement in corrupt practices at the Government Boys Senior Secondary School at Hastsal in Uttam Nagar area of west Delhi," the statement said.

The government got a First Information Report registered against Wadhwa at the Uttam Nagar police station, the statement said.

Wadhwa was a school principal between 2008 and 2015, during which he allegedly forged signatures of several officers to get money sanctioned from the government.

The statement said the action was taken against the official after an inquiry by the education department deputy director of west district.
