Five killed in Thane building collapse

Five persons were killed and 12 injured on Sunday when a two-storied dilapidated building collapsed in Thane district's Bhiwandi town, an official said.

Another 10 persons were rescued but at least a dozen more were feared trapped in the debris.

Rescue operations were underway, the official added.

The incident occurred in Gaibinagar locality famous for its powerlooms, around 35 kms north of Mumbai.
