Four members of the Vicky Jharodia gang -- who were wanted for crimes like murder, attempted murder, robberies, extortions and snatchings -- have been arrested in west Delhi, police said on Wednesday.

Police said accused Mohit, Jasbeer, Govinda Bhardwaj and Vishal -- all residents of Nangloi and Tilak Nagar areas -- were arrested on Tuesday on a tip-off when they were driving around in a stolen car near the Punjabi Bagh chowk.

"Police flagged their car to stop at a barricade, after which the accused tried to flee the spot by brandishing a firearm at the police team but were overpowered," Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar told IANS.

A countrymade pistol, a knife and a stolen Maruti Swift car were seized, Vijay Kumar said. Gang leader Mohit is wanted in a firing incident in Nihal Vihar area.

Police said the gang members stole motorcycles and snatched mobile phones and valuables from women on the streets as well.

Mohit was convicted in a stabbing case in 2015 and sent to jail, where he came in contact with west Delhi's notorious criminal Vicky Jharodia and joined his gang. He is involved in more than 10 cases registered under the Arms Act, extortion and attempt to murder.
