Two France Rafale jets, alongside coalition planes, Wednesday struck Islamic State (IS) targets in the Iraqi city of Kirkuk, France's defence ministry said.
Around 04.30 a.m. (0330 GMT), fighter jets, armed with four missiles, targeted trenches used by IS to besiege the city, Xinhua reported citing the statement.
Earlier in the day, Stephane Le Foll, a government spokesman, said France would further boost its deployment in Iraq to combat Daech fighters.
In September, France joined the US-led military offensive against IS fighters in Iraq.
