Goa will be India's first beggar-free state: Parrikar

Goa will strive to become India's first beggar-free state, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said in his budget speech on Friday.
"We will conceive a full fledged rehabilitation centre for beggars and a rehabilitation centre for destitutes," Parrikar told the Goa legislative assembly.
Parrikar also said that for a state with a high per capita income, Goa was seeing a rapid increase in the number of beggars.
