A Gurugram district court on Thursday awarded life terms to a gangster and his three accomplices in a case of murder and attempted murder over a property dispute, a lawyer said.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajesh Duggal on Wednesday held Surjeet Kataria, Sonu, Dev and Sunil guilty of the crime.

Vinod Kumar, 40, and his younger brother Daudyal, residents of Laxman Vihar, were shot at by criminal Surjeet and the three others in Gururgram, leading to the death of Vinod on July 26, 2016. Daudyal was critically injured.

Surjeet was convicted for a murder in Haryana's Narnaul and was sentenced to life term. He had bought a plot from Vinod for Rs 25 lakh but failed to get it registered in his name due to his conviction.

Vinod later refused to get the registration deed executed and also refused to return the money, following which Surjeet attacked the two brothers after jumping parole in the earlier case.
