Immunization against life-threatening diseases

Under the government's immunization mission 'Indradhanush', 201 high-priority districts, which have been either partially or not vaccinated at all, have been identified and children living there were being given vaccinations.
In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Health Minister J.P. Nadda said that under the mission, immunization was on against seven life-threatening diseases -- diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B.
In addition, vaccination against Japanese Encephalitis and Haemophilus influenza type-B will be provided in select districts of the country. Vaccination against tetanus was also being provided to pregnant women, he said.
