Italian football great Alessandro del Piero was named the brand ambassador of two-wheeler brand Vespa on Monday and he will visit India on September 1 for an event of the company.
The 40-year-old, a 2006 World Cup-winner, played in the inaugural Indian Super League (ISL) football tournament for the Delhi Dynamos franchise last year.
"We are very excited to have Alessandro del Piero join the Vespa family here in India. Vespa and Alessandro del Piero have many things in common -- two worldwide famous Italian symbols recognised for their successes and profound impact on public opinion," Piaggio India, which manufactures the scooter, managing director Stefano Pelle said.
