After the Indian Army, the Indo Tibet Border Police(ITBP) is procuring five snow scooters to patrol the Chinese frontiers, officials said.
"The ITBP has purchased five snow scooters, as an initial order, from the adventure vehicle maker Polaris to patrol the snow covered regions of the borders along the Chinese frontier," said informed sources.
The force expressed its desire for the scooters a year back and the contract was sealed in November last year.
The first of the vehicles is in transit, the source said.
Indian Army, the first customer of the vehicles, has purchased more than 100 such scooters in last three years and has come up with another tender to purchase additional snow scooters.

The vehicles would provide the soldiers with much required quick mobility, carriage capacity at the troubling heights and will be helpful in patrolling, troop support and casualty evacuation.
The scooters can carry one passenger along with the driver and a weight of over 250 kg.
