Mamata expresses condolences over Mumbai stampede

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday expressed her condolences over deaths due to a tragic stampede in Mumbai and also prayed for speedy recovery of injured persons.

"Saddened at the loss of lives in Mumbai. Prayers for the injured to recover. Condolences to the families who lost loved ones," tweeted Banerjee, a former Railway Minister.

In a Dussehra-eve tragedy, at least 22 persons were killed in a stampede on a narrow railway footover bridge connecting the Parel-Elphinstone Road stations of Western Railway on Friday morning.
