The Netherlands-based semiconductor manufacturer NXP Semiconductors on Monday unveiled two new wearable platforms -- WaRP7 and Hexiwear -- to help simplify and speed up the wearable electronic product design in the country.

While the WaRP7 is priced at Rs 7,777, Hexiwear costs Rs 3,280(approximately).

The platforms will provide a development solution for Internet of Things (IoT) applications for start ups, entrepreneurs, product design labs and R&D organisations both large and small.

The company also announced its 'Innovate in India' strategy to boost the country's domestic ESDM (Electronic System Design and Manufacturing) drive.

"We believe that product designing will evolve as the success catalyst for India to become an electronics manufacturing nation," said Ashok Chandak, Senior Director, Global Sales and Marketing, NXP Semiconductors, in a statement.

The open-source WaRP7 development platform addresses key IoT and wearables challenges, including battery life, connectivity, usability (user experience) and miniaturisation.

Hexiwear is designed to reduce product development or design time for wearable and IoT applications, thereby accelerating the manufacturing process.
