Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) R.P. Sharma on Tuesday issued an advisory to the police, educational institutions and parents to ensure that colleges are free of crime.
The move comes after instances of students indulging in various criminal activities came to notice.

In order to check such nefarious habits among young students, Sharma instructed all Superintendents of Police in the state, including DCPs of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, to take special measures on the issue.
The magnitude of such crimes among students has been increasing manifold which has been a major concern for college authorities and parents in particular and police in general, said Sharma.
He asked police for regular patrolling in and around college premises by deploying PCR Vans.
