The Border Security Force (BSF) Tuesday arrested a man near a border outpost in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district and seized gold worth over Rs.32 lakh he was trying to smuggle across.

In a special operation, troopers of the 152nd Battalion of the BSF intercepted a bike-rider going towards Dakbangla under Swarupnagar police station in the district. He was searched and six gold biscuits and four gold chains weighing 1,165 gms were recovered from him.

The man identified as Narayan Sarkar, 43, a resident of the district, has been handed over to police.

The South Bengal frontier guards of BSF have seized more than 57 kg gold and apprehended 34 gold smugglers this year.
