Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu has indicated that the parliament session may be extended, sources said Tuesday.

According to sources, in a meeting of the BJP parliamentary party Tuesday morning, Naidu asked the MPs to "be prepared" in case the session is extended.

BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy, meanwhile, told reporters that the government had legislative business which needs to be completed.

"The opposition has been disrupting the house. The government has some key bills to pass and, if needed, the session may be extended," said Rudy.

The bills that the government wants to be passed include the National Judicial Appointments Commission Bill, the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Bill, Apprentices (Amendment) Bill, Constitution (121st Amendment) Bill, Repealing and Amending Bill, Factories (Amendment) Bill, the Insurance Bill, the Securities Laws (Amendment) Bill and the Labour Laws (Exemption from Furnishing Returns and Maintaining Registers by Certain Establishments) Amendment Bill.
