Police smash Pakistani people-trafficking gang

Rome, Jan 11 (IANS/AKI) Italian and German police said they had broken up a Pakistani-run gang that smuggled people into Europe across the Balkans.

Anti-mafia prosecutors in the eastern Italian coastal cit of Ancona spearheaded the joint operation in cooperation with state prosecutors in the southern German city of Hof, police said.

The gang was made up of Pakistani citizens, Italian police said in a statement.

Additional details of the operation would be provided to the media, police said.
