A day after a 75-year-old retired Border Security Force (BSF) official was killed in Hoshiarpur district, the Punjab Police began a probe on Friday.

BSF Commandant Narinder Singh was killed while his wife suffered injuries after around three to four robbers attacked them with iron rods at their house in Dasuya town on Thursday night, the police said.

Dasuya town in Hoshiarpur district is around 180 km from here.

The criminals also took away the officer's licensed gun and other valuables from the house, it said.

His wife managed to walk out of the house after the attack and sought help from the people nearby who informed the police.
