A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex), closed Friday's trade nearly 241.75 points or 0.88 percent down.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also provisionally closed down 72.80 points or 0.87 percent in the red at 8,299.95 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27,440.10 points, provisionally closed at 27,366.07 points (at 3.44 p.m.) -- down 241.75 points or 0.88 percent from the previous day's close at 27,607.82 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 27,442.82 points and a low of 27,131.44 points in the intra-day trade.
