Sensex up 59 points; oil and gas stocks gain

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), was on Friday trading 59.26 points or 0.22 percent up during the post-noon session.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading in the green -- 16.50 points or 0.21 percent up at 79,81.85 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,340.32 points, was trading at 26,430.24 points (at 12.32 p.m.) in the post-noon session, up 59.26 points or 0.22 percent from the previous day's close at 26,370.98 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 26,489.58 points and a low of 26,307.56 points in the intra-day trade so far.
Good buying was observed in oil and gas and banking sectors, while selling pressure was seen in consumer durables and metal sectors.
